collection launch date

When I began my professional career in finance I never dreamed I would be launching a furniture collection a few years later. Life has a funny way of keeping me on my toes and in this case I couldn't be happier. After pouring my heart and soul into this endeavor I an elated to announce our official launch date: Summer 2013!

Here are a few highlights from the 2013 Copper + Walnut Collection:
  • over 10 sofa silhouettes
  • chairs in all shapes and sizes
  • 3 collections of fabric to choose from
  • 6 wood finish options
  • handpicked accessories

The goal is to give our clients the ability to customize designer quality furniture. You will personalize the piece with details and fabrics and we will ensure that it is made to our specified level of comfort and craftsmanship. I am more than thrilled to launch this summer and hope you will excuse the absence of blog posts as we prepare.

Happy Tuesday!

lust list: mothers day

This week's Lust List is all about Mom. Instead of putting together a list of things you should buy her {because let's be honest, you're basically out of time if you've waited until today} I put together a list of fun things to do together on Mother's Day. I, unfortunately, won't get the opportunity to spend the weekend with my Mom so I'm going to vicariously live through all of you.

1. Have a professional snap some pictures of you and your Mom. You'll be so glad to have captured another moment in time together.

2. Go for a walk. Get outside, enjoy the spring air and get some exercise. You'll realize it's not often you get uninterrupted time like this together. If I were home this would begin with a few laps around a lake and end with a delicious sticky bun!

3. Make a meal together. My Mom is a wonderful cook and I always enjoy making something together that reminds me of my childhood.

4. Go shopping together. My Mom is my very best shopping partner and even when I'm not on a mission to purchase I like hearing her opinions and having that one on one time.

5. Get matching haircuts.
just kidding.

However you decide to celebrate your Mom this weekend, enjoy!

Love you Mom.

phDesign: inspired by menswear

Hello menswear. I talk a lot about women's fashion inspiring design so today I wanted to make sure the men knew I hadn't forgotten about them. At Market this year we saw a lot of masculine style translated into incredible furniture pieces! This can be an awesome way for couples to infuse their living space with furniture both people will like without sacrificing sophistication or design. Here are a few of my favorites:

These gorgeous chests are perfect for his + her nightstands. Argyle can be an androgynous pattern and with the addition of the mirrored sections it's clear which piece is "hers." Not to mention, and I'll save my rant for another post, I am super tired of nightstands that don't have any storage. These would give you plenty of room and have large enough surface areas to hide your iphone+ipad+laptop cords, display pictures + accessories and still leave room for a pair of lamps.

This wardrobe is the epitome of man. Part of the Alexander Julian collection, the stripes and houndstooth give it the perfect testosterone touch without making it overly bulky or style-less. The houndstooth chest also comes solo and could be a fun addition to a bar area, entryway or office.

These lacquered side tables were my favorite and would also be perfect for his + her nightstands. Available in a myriad of colors the details, from the button inspired knobs to the pinstripe drawer interior, were impeccable. Just like the tailoring of a man's suit!  Notice how the knobs even mimic the buttons of a suit jacket, getting closer together as they move down the piece. I love it.

This mirror is actually bone inlay, not a pattern painted over the wood. Pretty unique and incredible for a men's locker room or my husband's dream closet after we win the lottery.

Hope the men enjoyed their shout out today!

product profile: The Kate Sofa

I don't like running.

Man, if feels good to get that out! I want to like running. I want to be that cute, skinny girl who stands in line at Starbucks and while ordering a frappuccino talks about the amazing twelve mile run she just went on. That will just never be me. I like to work out and would even consider myself relatively athletic so this weekend I set out to find that elusive exercise that is both effective and enjoyable. Enter Crossfit. I attended a free hour-long class and after my windpipe stopped burning and I regained feeling in my legs I was hooked.

How in the world does this relate to furniture and design, you ask? It doesn't really. Other than the fact that I woke up Sunday morning and could barely move. It was that "good" sore feeling where you know you pushed your body just enough to get results but not enough to cause severe injury. Needless to say I was out of commission most of the day and found the most comfortable spot in our house to recuperate:

Introducing the first sofa in our Copper + Walnut collection: Kate. This was the first piece of "real" furniture that I purchased upon graduating college and after 5 moves, three states and too many movies to count this is still one of the most comfortable pieces we own.

It's curved, tight back gives it a unique custom look that could be paired with formal or more casual decor. It seats two generously and three if necessary but is down right heaven for one...sprawled out...with a cozy blanket.

I can't wait to share more exciting news about the Copper + Walnut Collection as the week progresses!

lust list: mad men

Another "theme" that we saw at Market was mid-century modern, or as it's fondly known: the Mad Men look. We recently added a tortoise octagon mirror {above} to our bar and while we wouldn't consider our style vintage we love the subtle nod to the 50's. Now that the show is entering a new decade we have even more throw-back styles to choose from, so I've put together a lust list with Don Draper in mind combining things we saw at Market, this you will soon be able to shop on this site, and current retail finds. Enjoy!

market trend: shades of blue

Typically going into market you can predict the big trends of the season. This year I was poised to see florals and emerald green everywhere and I wasn't disappointed. What I was not prepared for was the popularity of the color blue. From tiffany to powder this shade was everywhere. While I can't say that a robins egg sofa is up my alley I fell head over heels for navy. Whether is was a solid velvet sofa or a modified navy and white chevron chair I was in love.

Velvet was also a huge trend, I love it so much and this post is evidence!

I admit, I am super sick of basic white+color chevron. These new takes on the pattern, however, are fantastic and have renewed my enthusiasm for the style.

Hurray! It's almost Friday.
